2009-2010 HCMA President
Born in Costa Rica, Dr. Humberto Coto came to the United State when he was 22. After completing his fellowship at University of Louisville, he remained at the university to teach Cardiology. In 1990 Dr. Coto moved to Tampa to begin his private practice. On the first day of practice he met his future wife, Lori. They combined families and altogether they have 8 children: Christina 32, Marcela 27, Giovanna 25, Kara 22, Spencer 20, Samantha 18, Mimi (Maria Gabriela) 11, and Tee (Humberto) 10.
In addition to loving his work, particularly in interventional cardiology, Dr. Coto has an eclectic mix of hobbies and favorite things to do. He is an honorary deputy and is a team leader for the volunteer citizen patrol of Hillsborough County Sherffi’s Department. He collects firearms and antique stethoscopes; enjoys target and tactical shooting, and hunting with his son, Tee. He also enjoys the movies, his favorites being HITMAN, The Sound of Music, Dr. Zhivago, and old cowboy movies.
Dr. Coto’s first “President’s Message” on pages 7-8 of the May/June 2009 issue of The Bulletin will provide a little more background as well as his goals for the year. |
