The HCMA Executive Council, at its September 2009 meeting, voted unanimously to support the efforts of Stay Alive...Just Drive, an organization out of Lee County, which is attempting to make people aware of the dangers of driving while distracted. The distractions can include anything, but as we are entrenched in the electronic age, the use of cell phones, PDAs, and other electronic devices are targeted as those being most responsible for causing accidents when used while driving. Please check out the website and consider the $25 membership fee to support the cause. But the most important thing is to remember NOT to use cell phones, even those that are hands free, while driving.
